Tsubasa postage
Jan. 22nd, 2006 09:59 pmI just finished the "Tsubasa Chronicle" anime today--a got episodes 1-26 for about $15 off of ebay (of course I didn't realize they were pirated when I bought them, but I'm not complaining!). And the more I watched, the more I had to face it: Sakura is the most Mary Sue-esque of any female character I've seen since Sailor Moon. I mean, I still love her to pieces, don't get me wrong. But she's just NOT REALISTIC. "Oh, I get a wish? One that will magically come true in spite of everything? One that is making the bad guys all nervous, because they're worried that I'll suddenly wish for all my magical INSANELYPOWERFULLIKEWHOA feathers back? Well, I could wish for all my memories to come back, including the lost ones of Syaoran, but that wouldn't be the right thing to do! I mean, that poor old lady just lost her grandson. I know! I'll wish all those poor dead villiagers back to life! *wishes*"

Oh, well. I still love her, and I still love the series. I think the manga is better, though--they do a better job of explaining things. For example, in the anime they sort of vaguely imply that something is wrong with Syaoran's right eye, but they never said that he was BLIND. I mean, hello?! There's a huge difference between 'injured' and 'blind'! Also, the whole Outo World plotline? Totally stolen from .hack. Completely. I still love the series, though. I mean, I'm interested to see what happens next! Plus, Fye and Kurogane are quickly becoming almost my favorite part of the series. ^_^ It's just nice to have characters that aren't always being noble and angsty. ^^ A pair of them is good enough; four would be too much.
EDIT: And what was up with that RANDOM WHALE?!
