MY LIFE:

RENT: We open Friday, Nov. 13th. FUUUUUUUUCK OMG IT'S ALMOST HEEERE

School: Love econ, but I got a horrible grade on the last huge test so now I really need to rock this next one out of the park so I can hope to get a B. Or even pass the class, really, because right now I'm not... and I can't express how much that bothers me, since I should be rocking this class so hard it's forgotten its name. So I'm studying for the next Huge Econ test, which happens to be... the day before RENT opens. Thanks, prof.

Calculus scares me. I try not to think about it. Luckily, the next Huge Calculus test isn't until a week after RENT opens, so I have time to panic for that one.

Only four more weeks of Chinese and then I'm done with the Grinnell Chinese Department forever. HUZZAH!

Shakespeare continues to be awesome. Thought-provoking class that requires little to no effort or preparation on my part. GOLD.

Personal Life: Got a boyfriend. His name is Kyle, and he's wonderful, but we're long-distance because he lives in California and goes to school in Oregon. Anyway, he's not really a huge talker, so he doesn't contact me as much as I would like, which bothers me just a bit. I might bring it up to him later. I don't think it's anything personal, but I don't want it to be a symptom of something bigger, so I might bring it up.

Nanowrimo: Totally falling by the wayside until RENT is over. I've got a little over 2,000 words so far, which is horrible, but I'm going to word sprint it to the end in the last couple of weeks. I've got all Thanksgiving break, right? Right. >.> I'll make it work. My pride will not suffer me to not win NaNo this year -- I'm the ML for Grinnell, for chrissake, I've got to finish!

BLAAAAAH

COOL STUFF I'VE DONE LATELY: There's a girl who sits next to me in Calculus named Sally, who is a total sweetheart and I adore. Well, I've got "Bad Wolf" written on my pencil pouch, and one day I brought it out and put it on the table in preparation for class, like I always do, and Sally gives this huge gasp. "Bad Wolf!" and my ears perk up and I'm like, "Doctor Who?" and she says, "I've been obsessed with it all weekend, I started watching it last Saturday and I can't stop. I've watched the past two seasons in three days." and I said, "What episode are you on?" AND SHE SAID, "I'M ABOUT TO WATCH THE SEASON TWO FINALE."

YOU GUYS. [livejournal.com profile] zombres, you will surely appreciate this. I discovered a DW fan, and a huge Rose/Doctor shipper, JUST BEFORE DOOMSDAY. IN THAT PERILOUS TIME JUST BEFORE YOUR SHIPPER'S INNOCENCE AND YOUR SOUL IS DAMAGED FOREVER. I wibbled for her inside, knowing what was in store.

(BTW, about an hour after Caclulus class ended, she texted me saying "I cried. A lot." I LOVE THIS GIRL)

So now we've been marathoning DW once a week since then, and she loves Donna and Rose and is sort of meh about Martha, which is wonderful. That DW time is sustaining me. <3

For those of you who don't know yet (by my various comments on journals, because I've been too lazy to actually *post*, what is wrong with me!?), I am doing NaNoWriMo again this year. My goal is 60,000 words. I'm also the Regional ML for Grinnell, so I'm organizing write-ins and stuff for my fellow Grinnellians, twice a week.

Definitely keeps me busy. XD

AND. I'M TOTALLY WRITING ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.

I'm not going to lie. I saw HSM3 in theaters on Wednesday and fell in love with the series all over again. And this is saying something, because I've always been an avid lover of the HSM crackyness. But I saw HSM3 and I'm telling you, it is really quite impressive. I think it's going to date somewhat, because it's definitely made for today's music trends, but it's so stinking cute. What I love about it most is that it makes no apologies for what it is; completely silly self-indulgence from beginning to end. <3333 SO MUCH LOVE.

My one little complaint was that is was kind of the Zac Efron Show. There were only two songs in the whole thing that didn't feature him. >.> That boy is lucky he found out he had singing potential. But he's good. And an amazing dancer. AND FREAKING HOT, OMG. I saw pictures of him shirtless and MY LIFE CHANGED.

I really like the songs "Can I Have This Dance" (which is really sweet, and a great duet), "I Want it All" (OMG RYAN AND SHARPAY <3333), "A Night to Remember" (the girls v. boys excitement for Prom. Very funny), and "The Boys are Back" (which is Troy and Chad running around playing pretend in a car dump. SOCUTE). They're all fun, though.

So. I'm writing HSM: The College Years for my NaNovel. XD It's basically about how, when all these kids go to college, their lives change as they realize life isn't all like East High. Troy and Gabriella struggle with their long-distance relationship, Chad struggles with peer pressure and the question of his sexuality (because I HAVE to have Chad/Ryan in this or I'll simply DIE), Ryan and Kelsi are at Juilliard, being amazing and enjoying the kind of friendship that only a girl and a gay man can have. <3 Sharpay hates being a college freshman and, therefore, the given subject of humiliation. She also discovers that she might just love being a drama teacher.

I'm at just over 5,000 words; I'll have a widget once the NaNo website slows down enough that my connection doesn't time out every time I click on something. >.> Oh, Nano!

I should be working on any of my Religious Studies papers right now. They're both due Friday... but I'm not. Le Sigh.
So, I won NaNoWriMo yesterday. ~^___^~ *w00t* Notice that I say "won" and not "completed", because my story's still not over yet. I wrote the beginning, which got me to about 23,000 words, and I knew that I had so much stuff planned for the middle that I'd never get to the end in time for Nov. 30th. I ALSO knew that if I never got to the end, which was where all the plot!stuff happens, I'd never get around to writing that later.

So I skipped the middle and finished the end. So now I have the beginning, the end, and about a third of the middle done at 50,029 words, and THEN I have to edit it so that some select friends can read it and I can at least look back on it without retching.

>.<;; So good luck with THAT. I'm going to try and get as far as I can until Nov. 30th, though. See how much of the middle I can finish. I keep thinking about writing all day at school still, which is a good sign. I've been with this novel all month and I'm not tired of it yet~!

Also, I went to see Scovil (my director) about the winter play today, now that the Love of Three Oranges is over (it went great, by the way), and she lent me a copy of the script to read, and IT'S BEAUTIFUL. @.@ It's about Greek Myths, which I have a huge infatuation with anyway, plus the writing is absolutely goregous. I'm very excited...!

However, that does mean I have to find and memorize a monologue tonight, since my audition is tommorow after school. -__-;; Wish me luck on that.

PLUS look at my awesome Avatar icon. >__< Combining my love for Avatar AND the End of the World. Sweeeet.
I performed at the Oregon NATS competition today, which is a competition that's kind of a big deal. It's the National Association of Teachers of Singing, or something along those lines, and voice teachers all over Oregon invite their students to sing at it. It's a big honor to win, and the "award" is that you get to sing at their Benefit Concert that evening. Well, I threw a couple of songs together and went to perform today, thinking that it was no big deal and I'd be back to write more of my NaNovel this evening (I'm trying to get to 23,000 by Monday).

But apparently, I did a really fantastic job and my Mom thinks there's a really good chance that I'll win, and they'll invite me to sing tonight. I'm supposed to call this woman at sometime after 4:30 to see if I need to come back.

And Mom's been raving about my performance all afternoon, and suddenly I'm all nervous! Too nervous to write! How can that be? I was planning on pounding out 1 or 2 thousand words this afternoon, and my stomach's been so jumpy I've written maybe 700. So I've wasted an evening, and I probably won't make it anyways. Thanks a lot, Mom. I can't wait until it's time for me to call so I can stop worrying and get on with my evening.

*sigh*

EDIT: Didn't make it, but all is good. My friend James (who also competed) got Honorable Mention, and I wrote over 3,800 words tonight. ~^____^~ yayy...plus, while those Rockstar drinks work REALLY, REALLY well, they also give me a stomachache if I drink faster than one sip every ten minutes. @_@
