Oh! Oh! Booyahhhh!

*sings* I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it...I'm about to lose control, and I think I like it... ^_^

We're going out to dinner tonight, to one of the best restaraunts in Portland. We went to a fundraiser auction awhile ago to help support this little downtown children's theater, and we won season tickets to all the shows at the Newark Theater (a little bit nicer than the Children's one. ^_^), and a dinner with the director all expenses paid. So, we're going tonight! *hop hop* I looked at the menu on the net last night, and it looks pretty impressive. Like, oysters and duck and stuff. Pricey. I'm glad we don't have to pay for anything.

I was telling Jessica today, maybe I should order a grilled cheese sandwich and see what they do. ^_^ *snicker snort*

Speaking of Jessica, I went to Ceramicafe last night and made her a birthday present. I'm going to go again, because Dani didn't tell me her birthday was yesterday (*rolleyes*) so I'm making something for her too, and Danielle is having a birthday soon, too. Phew!

I made Jessica this really nice mug, with yellow fading into orange and a pretty green leaf on it. She'll like it, she's really into nature and stuff. I'm making Danielle a little box in the shape of a cross, because she's really religious, and since she's also really musical, I'm going to decorate it with scriptures and stuff that have to do with music. ^_^ She'll loooove it. Dani's getting a little dragon figurine, since they're quick and easy and she collects them.

...oh! mental note: MUST EMAIL CHRIS AND TELL HIM I MADE IT TO STATE! He's an old YMA friend of mine who I reunited with at the U of O tournament (it was a great reunion...I sort of ran across the room and tackled him once I recognized who he was), and he wanted to know whether or not I was going to state as soon as I found out.
Mt. St Helens erupted.

And I witnessed it, about 40 miles away, from highway 205, on the way to that dinner I was talking about.

Me: *minding my own business*

Dad: Holy crap, Helens just popped!

Everyone in the car: *exclaims*

Traffic: *slows to a crawl as everyone tries to watch the eruption and drive without incident at the same time*

You have no idea what it's like, unless you're like us and you live so close. It's flat land between our house and Helens, and the same between us and Hood on the other side. All of a sudden, the mountain that's always been there is a smudge of ash, steam and haze. No warning. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. That's what's so weird about it. We get warnings all the time from the people that monitor it, warning us about little tremors and stuff. This was completely unexpected. It's amazing. It was like I wasn't even really seeing it; like someone taped a picture of the 1980s eruption to my face. Crazy. CUH-RAZY.

The best part is (they mention this at the end of the article), that they had just decided on a name for the glacier, after months of discussion, and now it's most likely been blown to smithereens. ^_^ Now if that's not ironic, I don't know what is.

ETA: By the way, the dinner was fantastic! ^_^

ETA: It turns out, it didn't technically "erupt", because there was no lava. It was just ash and stuff, so it's an "emission". *shrug* Whatever.
