Today was a good day. I just sat around and knit the whole time, watching a Monk marathon. All is good. It looks like I'm going to finish my dress-thingy tomorrow. ^_^ I'm so excited! I've been working on it since November. I should be able to wear it to school Wednesday or Thursday, after I block it and sew it together and everything. I can't wait! ^.^

...as soon as I do this homework. *sigh* Our class is performing "Romeo and Juliet", our group is doing Act I, and I've been assigned 'translating duty'. Actually, I really don't mind. I love 'translating' Shakespeare; I find it really fun. But then, I'm a dork. In any case we have to perform it on Thursday-ish. And it's not even written up yet. *sigh* I don't know how this is going to work out. Actually, it probably won't. Oh, well. I'm sure we won't be the only group that isn't fully memorized.

*jumps up and down* Shakespeare! yay!! I always LOVED studying Shakespeare in school! one of the most fun classes I took in college was Shakespeare! our teacher ROCKED, and we covered about 10 plays in that semester. the next semester, actually, the professor and I had become such good friends that I did what's called an "independent study" with him. (translation: kind of a one-on-one class/research where you get credit for individual work that a professor evaluates. normally in science, it's independent research with a prof. in english, it was all about weekly two to three hour long discussions and writing a couple of papers.) anyway, my independent study was called "Shakespeare in Film" because I adore Shakespeare adaptations and my professor suggested that I take the ind. study to look more critically at these movies. I would read the play, then watch the movie, then go in and talk to him about it for about two hours once a week. *sigh* heaven. he made me write like a three page paper at the end of the semester (aka - nothing) and I ended up getting the same amount of credit as a regular class for it. it was AWESOME. one of the best parts, though, was that this was my senior year (the class in the fall, the ind study in the spring) and my senior year was INSANELY busy with science crap - grad school applications, grad school visits, senior seminar presentation in biochemistry, and writing a senior thesis in molecular biology. it was super awesome to have a Shakespeare refuge every now and then. therapeutic, really.

wow, I've rambled on FAR too long. and it's almost 3am here. hm... I must go to bed.

yeah, have fun studying Shakespeare. I am quite jealous.

in my seventh grade english class, we were assigned to groups to perform a section from r&j and i was the only girl working with four boys, and they made me translate the scene (i believe it was the scene where romeo's best friend was killed). it was horrible cuz i had no idea what i was doing.

i absolutely love shakespeare now. 'much ado about nothing', 'twelfth night', and 'a midsummer's night dream' are among my favorite comedies. i love it!

i am so jealous you just sat around and knitted yesterday. i wish i was crafty (i can crochet, but i haven't in a long time).
